Monday's Missing Links

- This guy made a "masterpiece" out of discarded MetroCards.  I always try to refill my cards because there is always $0.40 left or $1.15 or some odd amount.  A lot of people throw them out, but it's like throwing out money.  This guy must have a lot of time on his hands - and this damn bench will probably fetch a few thousand bucks at an auction.  Somewhere there's some shmuck who wants this piece of avant garde art.

- Here's a cool site helping keep people up to date with the happenings in their respective cities - well, NYC, the Hamptons, San Fran, DC, LA, and Chicago.  There's also a link for national news, which is what the home page is, for those of you in lesser publicized cities.

- Last night's Academy of Country Music Awards were pretty good.  Lindsay loves Carrie Underwood, so we watched her performance - with Steven Tyler.  Pretty cool, especially since I have a new-found appreciation for his music.  His voice is like no other, and it's awesome.  Give it a listen if you didn't see it live.  I was kind of looking forward to Rihanna's performance too, but it was too slow and boring for me to like.  Like I've said before, my musical taste is very diverse.

- Butler vs. UConn tonight for the NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship.  We're going to dinner at 6:30, so we should be home in time to catch a majority of the game.  If we're able to stay up the entire time.  I know, you're probably thinking we're wimps, but I've been told by many people many times that I'd better get my sleep in now because it'll all change shortly.  I like UConn in this one, although I wouldn't be shocked if Butler wins.

- Oh yeah, before I forget, Chris Brown, what the hell is wrong with you man?  Beating a woman up?  Sorry, I know it was a while ago, but still, this is for you dipshit

- And one more link about music, Florence and the Machine are awesome!  I bought the album on iTunes and cannot get enough of it.  It's relaxing, which is a nice change of pace when I can't listen to my metal.  Give it a listen, you'll enjoy it.  Plus, there's a remake of a classic, "Addicted to Love", by Robert Palmer.  AWESOME-NESS!!

Case of the Mondays; PPV Porn Titles; Birthdays

Case of the Mondays
Dropped Lindsay off at jury duty right around the block from Yankee Stadium, pretty shitty area, besides the Stadium.
Drove 6 miles in 34 minutes to get back to work, and I hate traffic. (along with the rest of the world)
I just got finished moving some bleachers, real fun.
I just got finished moving some metal barricades, awesome.
I'm gonna head down to the park in a little while to stand on some scaffolding and change light bulbs in the scoreboard, soooo looking forward to that.

PPV Porn Titles
These things crack me up, although sometimes they aren't all that funny.  Last night, I re-read my post (yes, I'm a loser) and Lindsay and I were laughing so hard we were crying at the titles on television last night.  I mean loosen your screws a little and just take in the genius that is involved with selecting porn titles.

I need a laugh, so I am going over to TVGuide.com to check out some more porn titles showing today on channels 92 and 93 (for a nominal fee):
The MILFY Way:  Mom on Mom Sex - Has nothing to do with astronomy
Young Hot & Filthy Little Ho's - ???
High Class Urban Ho's:  Ghetto Sexual - I am not sure how many caucasian ho's are in this one
Bi-Girls:  Classy & Trashy Sexaholics - Classy and trashy?  Killer combination.

The weather out here isn't so bad, I just wish the sun would come out.  I have shorts on and a long sleeve shirt, but the wind out there on the scaffolding can be bone-chilling at times.

Birthdays
Doris Day turns 88 today.  "Harry Truman, Doris Day, Red China, Johnnie Ray,South Pacific, Walter Winchell, Joe DiMaggio..." to quote the great Billy Joel song "We Didn't Start the Fire".

Nathan turned two today.  Our little dog is growing up (I know, I sound like a crazy old cat lady) but he's a good shit.  He still only knows how to sit when he gets a treat, but that's good enough for us.  He has the occasional accident in the house (mainly on his bed, for some odd reason) but otherwise he's well-trained and well-behaved.  He barks only when we bark at him (yes, we bark at him) and everyone in the building knows his name.  Only issue is, they don't know Lindsay's name or mine.  Oh well, it's a dog community.  Woof woof!

Grandma Coiro (maternal grandmother) is celebrating another birthday today.  We sent a card out this morning, so it'll be a little late, but it's better than nothing, right?  I plan on calling her after I am done changing light bulbs.  We haven't seen her in a while, since she lives down in Florida, but I'm guessing she'll fly up once Baby D comes around.  She enjoys wine spritzers and hanging with the Red Hat Ladies at the clubhouse.  She's a social butterfly.

OK, that's enough from me, I better get to work.  I don't wanna get fired 10 days before the baby is due, that wouldn't be smart.  Off to the park, screwdriver and lightbulbs in tow.

Snoop Dogg on Rebecca Black: (I Love Sensations Like That)

Rebecca Black’s sudden hit single “Friday” recently took the web world by storm. And, while celebrities have mixed opinions on the overnight internet sensation, Snoop Dogg is on the 13-year-old artist’s side.

“I thought it was dope,” Snoop told OK! exclusively at the 2011 Kid’s Choice Awards in L.A. on Saturday of Rebecca’s unexpected hit song, “I love sensations like that, you know, things that become hot.”

The seasoned rapper even had some advice for the young new star on what she should be working on for the future.

“Make another one! Call it “Saturday” come on back!” Snoop joked to OK! at USC’s Galen Center of what Rebecca should call her next song.

Rebecca recently spoofed herself on April Fool’s day, taking over the site Funny or Die.

Elizabeth Hurley was separated from her husband Arun Nayar

Elizabeth Hurley, who confirmed last year that she was separated from husband Arun Nayar, has formalized the split by filing divorce papers in London. According to Us, the actress, 45, cited her
spouse's "unreasonable behavior" as the reason for ending the four-year marriage.

The couple began seeing one another in 2003 and wed in 2007, hosting extravagant weddings in both Britain and Nayar's homeland of India. Nuptials at a castle in the English countryside were followed by a traditional Hindu ceremony in Jodhpur, attended by European royalty and Bollywood stars.

But last year, Hurley, mother of 8-year-old Damian (her son with billionaire Stephen Bing) made some scandalous headlines when she was spotted around London with married Australian cricket pro Shane Warne. The two were accused of an affair, and to set the record straight, Hurley felt compelled to explain on Twitter in December: "For the record, my husband Arun & I separated a few months ago. Our close family & friends were aware of this."

Hurley first rocketed to fame during her 1990's relationship on the arm of longtime boyfriend Hugh Grant (after his notorious scandal stemming from soliciting a prostitute, Grant and Hurley broke up amicably in 2000).

Warne has filed for divorce, and he and Hurley have recently stepped out in public as a couple. Nayar is now reportedly dating a model.

The 'Austin Powers' star was spotted in New York shooting scenes for the new 'Wonder Woman' series, on which she's been cast as the superhero's evil nemesis

Sweep; MLB; Socks & Flip-flops?; Softball at 12?; PPV Porn

Sitting out here enjoying this lovely afternoon (or what's left of it) and figured it'd be a good time for a post. Nathan is out here on his bed getting after some rawhide, Lindsay is watching some television inside, and I'm out here with an Amstel Light and the iPad. It seems like forever since I've posted anything worthwhile, so I'm gonna sound off a little and keep my loyal throng of followers keyed in.

Sweep
Fairfield came to town this weekend and got swept right back out. Three games, three wins for the Jaspers.

We play a nine inning game and a seven inning game on Saturday and then a single nine inning game Sunday, that's how MAAC baseball schedule works. Twenty-six innings. We got twenty-five from our starters and one from a reliever (who got the save today). Pretty good work.

We played a flawless three games in the field (0 errors) and had a few timely hits that scored us some runs. 6-2 in game one, 6-1 in game two, and a 3-1 win this afternoon.

We are now 6-0 in conference - obviously it's nice to start out well rather than having to make up ground at the end wondering 'what if?' later in the year.

Next up we host LIU on Tuesday at home then head to Jersey City to take on St. Peter's Saturday and Sunday.

MLB
Early on in the MLB season and already there's some surprises.

The Red Sox are 0-3 after being sweet by the Rangers.
The Royals are tied for 1st place.
The Orioles are in 1st place.
The Phillies are in 1st place (OK this is no surprise).
The Mets won a series on the road against the Marlins.
The Yankees found out early what the rest of us already know - fat, old pitchers are not the answer (see: Bartolo Colon).

Socks & Flip-flops
Has this look ever been in style? I don't think so, but I continue to see people trying to pull it off. News flash - it's horrendous.

Not only do you look like a total douche, but how in the hell is that even comfortable? Your socks are wedged between your toes thanks to the toe thong thing. I've done it one time, to see what the big deal was with this sock and flip-flop craze, and let me tell you, it sucks.

I wear flip-flops a) at the beach or b) in my apartment - never in public. You're a grown ass man - wear grownup footwear (sneakers, boots, even sandals) but not flip-flops. Grow up!

Softball at 12?
We took Nathan over to the dog park earlier and there was a practice going on. It was the Giants - a group of 11- and 12-year-old boys. Playing softball. The coaches (2 of the 4) were wearing suits and looked like they'd never done an athletic thing in their lives.

My issue is not, however, with the coaches garments, but rather with the concept.

When I was 12, I played baseball. I wasn't always the best, but I played baseball. Not underhand, slow-pitch, beer league softball - I've yet to reach that era of greatness. Unless we have a girl, my son will not play arc softball until he's 35+. Sorry.

Needless to say, the Giants practice was boring as shit.

While I'm on the topic of youth boys slow-pitch softball, there's a game going on across the street in the park. The Giants must have a bye week in their three team boys arc softball league.

Not sure why, but this is really chapping my ass. They're throwing the ball all over (which is fine) but they don't even know where to run - I literally just saw a kid run to third.........from home!

Game over, they're shaking it up after what I'd imagine was a tie, because kids are taught now that it's OK to tie. Ties are for soccer, not baseball. Also, kids get trophies now for participation. Are you serious? You don't even need to earn a trophy anymore, just show up and pick your nose. Parents tell them what a great job they did going 4-4 even though the team lost 10-1. Yeah, good parenting. Pats on the ass are free nowadays.

PPV Porn
Relax, relax, I'm not into ordering movies on PPV, but rather the titles of said movies. They are absolutely hilarious to see when you're flipping through the channels. Here's a few examples:
Horny Slutinas 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6
Big Fat Racks 3
4 Slutinas Por Favor
Do Me Harder Playa
Sistas vs Whitezilla
Cameltoe Girls: Up Close

I mean are you for real with these titles? I think they're pretty damn funny. And I know you're laughing too!

OK, I'm gonna go inside, it's getting a little chilly.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend. Lindsay has jury duty tomorrow and I got it Wednesday. Both places are near Yankee Stadium, so depending on when I get done I may try to catch the Yankees game - or so I'll tell myself now. Tomorrow is Nathan's 2nd Birthday! Coolest dog ever. He'll get a post dedicated solely to him at some point this week. We're going out to dinner with Paul and Jenny tomorrow night for a few hours. Gotta try to do as much as possible before Baby D joins us.

Very much looking forward to that day though, whenever it is.

Location:The terrace.
