A New Blog!?!

I've decided to make a new blog.  Out of the blue?  Not really.  As you may or may not know, photography is something I'm pretty enthusiastic about.  It's not quite on the level of my passion for sports, but I enjoy being behind the lens.

Whenever I can, I post pictures that I've personally taken, on WRT.  Sometimes, it's photos I've gathered online.

My new endeavor - Digital Darcy Photography - will be a photo-a-day blog.  Photos will be taken by me (or Lindsay).

Themes and ideas for these photos will be completely random (with maybe a little help from The Daily Shoot).  Weather, transportation, landscapes, sports, foliage - anything and everything is fair game.

I hope you all have a spare minute in your day to check out the new site.  I know I can count on my Blog Army.

Thank you all.

Photoshopping

I recently began my subscription to Popular Photography for my Lindsay's cousins school fundraiser, and it got me thinking - is a free, timed trial any way to enhance and share my photos?  I think not.

I downloaded the 30 Day free trial of Photoshop Elements 9 and this thing is freaking unreal.  Don't get me wrong, I understand there's plenty of photo editing programs for free (Picasa, PhotoScape, gimp, etc. etc.) but the lure of Photoshop finally convinced me to cave and I'm trying it.

It's a lot to get down in one sitting so I've been checking out the free tutorial videos to see what it is I'm supposed to be doing to edit, refine, and totally change photos I've taken.  It's still a work in progress, but I think everyone should get in on Photoshop Elements 9.  The regular soup-to-nuts Photoshop CS5 is some where around $600 - way too much for me to fork over - I can get this version of Elements for $60 and it'll suffice.  I am not out there photographing weddings and pro sporting events for magazines, so being able to do some cool shit with different features is pretty neat.  Bed time.  Be back in the morning.

Anyway, I carried this post over until Monday - I woke up early, took Nathan out, got to the gym early and lifted.  Feeling pretty good right now, I know one day doesn't make me a superhero, but it's a start.  I'm beginning to keep a log of what I did on what day - see if I can get in a little better shape.

I may or may not take a break until after the holidays.  Have a happy and safe Christmas (and whatever other holidays there may be).  I hope Santa brings you everything you wished for.

HO! HO! HO!

Delay of Game

Some serious lightning is delaying the start of the game Brett Favre says he'll be "lights out".  OK Brett, but it wasn't a slow week in the sports pages here in NY - Yankees ALDS began (and ended) vs. the Twins; hockey season kicked off (the Islanders are 1-0-1); the Giants proved to the rest of the league that they're for real; and Brett Favre still managed to hog the headlines.

Apparently, he sent text messages to sideline beaut Jenn Sterger.  Is there any length Brett will not go to to get his mug on the front cover of newspapers?  Narcissistic old bastard.  Perverted  pictures?  Really?  Get a grip man.  I am wasting no more time on you nor will I pay attention.  You need to hand the ball off to the best RB in the NFL and maybe, on occasion, fire the pigskin Randy Moss' way.  He's going to make you look good again.  Big Randy Moss fan.

Watching the Giants/Braves on TBS - thank God Chip Caray isn't doing these games.  He was one of the worst in the business.  Along with Joe Morgan.

SNL just did a skit on NBC Sunday Night Football - pretty funny stuff.  Check it out here:  SNL's NBC Sunday Night Football

Now I have to figure out where to get a MetroCard at 9:00pm on Columbus Day so that we can ride the bus into the city tomorrow.  I may have to wake up and take a stroll early in the morning.  Probably going to get a little lift in anyway, try to make myself feel a little better.

The day off today was a real nice treat - seems like days off don't really exist because there is always something else going on - sporting events, outside groups coming in - and I really never have a day off.  Today was the first day since school started that I didn't have to do a thing related to work.  Outstanding.

Getting a little hot in here, lightning is still striking outside.  Going to try to get a few more photos and then hit the hay.  First, I gotta take the little guy out so he don't pee in the apartment.  Dodging bolts.

Speaking of bolts, the OAKLAND RAIDERS beat the Chargers for the first time in seven years.  The Raiders are a respectable 2-3, but have to travel to nearby San Fran to take on the hapless 49ers.  Looks like a trap game to me.  Hell, 2-3 ain't bad - took them 6 weeks to get W #2 last year.  Looks like there's some improvement going on in Raider Nation.

  Bye!
